As an lead environment artist, you are responsible for leading a team of environment artists, collaborating with other departments, and overseeing the creation of high-quality, visually compelling environments for games or films, while also mentoring and developing team members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Art, Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in creating immersive game environments, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality work for shipped projects.
  • Proficiency in art software such as Photoshop, Substance Painter, and 3D modeling tools like Maya, Z Brush etc.
  • Strong understanding of environment art principles, including lighting, composition, and color theory.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of environment art styles and techniques.
  • Extensive experience in Unreal Engine or other equivalent game engine.
  • Excellent team and communication skills.
  • Passion for making and playing innovative games.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of environment artists to ensure the highest quality of environmental art.
  • Collaborate with the Art Director, designers, and other departments to develop and implement the visual style and aesthetic of game environments.
  • Create and oversee the production of environment assets, including landscapes, buildings, props, and textures.
  • Ensure environment assets are optimized for performance and meet technical requirements.
  • Review and provide feedback on environment art to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in environment art techniques and technology.
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of new environment art team members.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
